Before Christmas Eve we write Christmas cards to our friends and family, and they write back to us. At the evening of the December of the 23th we hang up our Christmas stocking, then the Santa Claus can put presents in it.
Our Christmas Eve is at the December of 24th. At the morning and afternoon we watch cartoons. Later at the Christmas Eve we eat ribs, sauerkraut, potatoes and vegetables. At the evening we walk around the Christmas tree, and after that we can open our presents and maybe the Santa Claus comes with more presents.

Norwegians associate Christmas with candlelight, sitting around the fire, freshly baked breads and cakes, the smell of spruce and pine, presents and the Norwegian version of Santa Claus, Julenissen, who is a mixture of the Nordic nisse and the St. Nicholas of central Europe.

Christmas is the time of the year when the sun turns and the days start to get longer. Since ancient times, it has been a tradition in Norway to celebrate this event with parties and feasts.

Ribs, sauerkraut and potatoes – the typical Christmas dinner.
