Day of Fisher

   At Soviet Union all Sundays of the year were made a professional holydays. Some of them are celebrated till nowadays as they are pleasant and important for specialists. Here we will tell you about two of them: "Day of Fish men" (second Sunday of July) and "Day of Employers of Sea and River Fleet" (first Sunday of July). Note that at July (last Sunday) also a Navy Day is celebrated. So all this month is connected with seas, oceans, rivers, water and with the people trade on waterways. These holydays are also interesting for our students of State Marine Technical university.

   The "Day of Fish men" is popular ay Far East of Russia (Vladivistock), at the northern ports (such as Murmansck), at the southern ports (such as Novorossiysck) and at all cities add villages situated at the river costs. People who work at fish vessels, refrigerator vessels, and also their families celebrate this holyday.  For example at Primorie region (Far East) there are more than 30 thousands specialists in fishing industry and fishery. Most of them are courageous, strong hearted people who are working far from native coasts for many months.

 At Murmansck an obvious attribute of this holyday is Sea Tsar Neptune. He congratulates all citizens directly on the streets of the town. At some places the main event of this celebration is a competition between anglers: who will get more fisher with the ordinary fishing tackle. At fishing brigades there can be very special prizes: for example, a boat engines. Also fireworks, games and fried or dry fish entertainment are usual.  

 

 

 

     "The Day of Employers of Sea and River Fleet" is the holyday mainly for port cities. Saint Petersburg just celebrate it with great pleasure. More than 140 thousands of citizens work at water industry of our town. Here are 25 stevedore companies, many service operators for export-import traffic, also expeditor, ship chandler, broker, survived companies and agencies. Saint Petersburg is a "Sea Town" indeed. At 203 there was established a special post stamp for this Day in our city.
