YOU CAN SEE NEW MATERIALS ABOUT NORVEGIAN WINTER
Sore Al skole is a primary school. We are 340 pupils and 30 teachers.
Sore Al is the southern part of Lillehammer. Lillehammer has about 25 000 inhabitants, and is
situated in the south-eastern part of Norway, about 200 km north of Oslo.
Lillehammer hosted the winter-olympics in 1994.
Sore Al skole is an open-planned school. We do not have classrooms, but open "landscapes". Our pupils are not divided into classes - but are all together in the same grade. Grade 5 for example - are 57 pupils and they have 3 or 4 teachers. The teachers teach in teams.
We have a forest next to the school, and we do a lot of out-door - teaching.
In summer we go to a place where we can do biology, maths and a lot of other things.
In winter we can ski or skate at school.
European Clubs in Senvages Secondary School, Vilnius, Lithuania together with Zespot Szkol w Mielniku, Mielnik, Poland, Escola Secundaria do Cartaxo, Cartaxo, Portugal and Sore Al skole, Lillehammer Norway made this fairytale together:
Once upon a time there was an elf in the woods of Norway - who had a dream.
He wanted a boy from Norway to meet elves in Poland, Portugal and Lithuania. He wanted him also to meet people there and to discover their country.
He found a boy in a family. They were celebrating Spring Day with a barbecue in the woods.
The boy, Per, age 13, was going to pee behind a tree. Then he discovered a green star in the sky! He followed the star, and suddenly he found a gate in the forest!!
When he entered the gate, he saw three new gates in a shining room. He also suddenly sees an elf in the room! The elf tells him that he is a lucky boy! He can visit at least three countries in Europe, but he will have to solve a riddle before entering the gate. First then, he will see which country he will visit.
In one of the gates he sees a picture of the ocean, in another he sees people dancing in national costumes.
He chooses the gate with the ocean - and starts to solve the riddle!
He meets explorers on big ships, among them Vasco da Gama, and he realises that he is going to Portugal!

..... In the boat of Vasco da Gama
The boy found that he was in 1498 and that they come from the India, they had discovered the seaway to the Pacific ocean and they were marvelled with people and new condiments to the food (cinnamon, pepper...) and they were cooking a nice fish.
The boy was invited to have lunch and to tell stories about Norway. And he told about the snow and the beautiful houses made of wood. He explain the meaning of an elf and he presented his elf friend to Vasco da Gama.
Vasco da Gama presented him to another sailor that was in the boat brought by a seamaid. This sailor came from the futur also. He was from Poland and he was very proud of his story and anxious because his country was going to be integrated in the European Union...

Mermaid called Sava showed the way to the harbour Danzig. Per was greeted by Bolek and Lolek - two boys, popular characters of Polish cartoon. They were going across the river Wisla, when suddenly they perceived an old man meditating by the river. Lolek recognized in him Nicolaus Copernic - well-known Polish astronomer. He invited boys to try "bigos"-national Polish dish made of picled cabbage and special Polish cakes - gingerbreads. During the meal they were speaking about elves. Bolek says that Polish elves are little bit diffrent. They are called "krasnoludki". They are small and they wear coloured hoods. They appear esspecially in Spring Day. You can see them only if you believe. Then boys were looking at the Moon through huge telescope, when confused Per shouted: " there is a man on cock!". Bolek and Lolek explained, that he is our nobleman Tvardovski from Cracow, whom succeed to run away from devil to the Moon. Then boys went to his city - Cracov, where they were sightseeing ancient buildings. Finally they went to Zakopane, where on the ski jump they met the most famous ski jumpers: Pole Adam Malysz and Norwegian Siggurd Pettersen. By magic ski from sportsmen Per and elf go to the border of Lithuania - our buddy in common way to European Union, to which surely we will enter.

It is a nice spring day in Lithuania. Jurate and Kastytis, the symbol of love and devotion in our fairytales, met very unexpected quests Per and elf, who were skiing in the Baltic Sea. Jurate and Kastystis invited them to their Amber Castle under the sea. But their enemy Thunder got angry and crashed the castle. So, Per and elf and wonderful pieces of amber were thrown on the sandy beach of Nidanioiest resort. And they met a Lithuanian Giant Sabas (Sabonis) who is NBA superstar. Sabas took Per and elf on his huge hands and they appeared to be in European Park among the sculptures from Norway, Portugal and Poland. They found out that it was also the geographical centre of Europe. In a sunny lawn near the forest there was a wooden cottage where Lithuanian elves prepared "cepelinai" traditional meal. And again Sabas took Per and elf to Vilnius - capital of Lithuania.

Per and elf were walking down Pilies Street and looking at wonderful things, made by Lithuanian craftmen. It was the great traditional Kasimir fair, usually held in March. Per and elf got the bells as presents. And they came to Cathedral square, where they saw a nice plane for 2 passengers. World champion of acrobatic flying Mr. Jurgis Kairys smiled, opened the door of his plane and invited Per and elf to have a seat. The sun was shining, the wind was mild, the bells were jingling and they started their flight towards Norway.

They saw the Baltic Sea, then land, most of it with snow. And they landed in the Ollympic site of biathlon, in Lillehammer.
Per got out of the plane, together with Jurgis Kairys. And there they met Ole Einar Bjorndalen who is the best biathlon athlete in Norway. They also met King Harald of Norway, who is very interested in sports.
Jurgis went down to Lillehammer town together with Bjorndalen, and went to work out in Kristins Hall. There were also Bente Skari, cross country -skier and Anette Sagen female ski-jumper from Norway. Per talked to them all, and had their autograph.
Jurgis Kairys went with Per to the train-station, and they took a train to Oslo, the capital of Norway. In Olso they went by boat to Bygdoy, where they first visited the Kontiki - museum and looked at all the trips Thor Heyerdahl made. Then they went to see "Fram", the boat of Fridtjof Nansen, who got the Nobel Peace Prize in 1922. Nansen worked for a better world and for peace for all people.
Jurgis Kairys made his way back to Lithuania, and when Per had said goodbye, he suddenly saw the gate he first entered when he started his journey. He went back through the gate - and at once he was back in the forest with his family. He had been gone a while, and his family had started to look for him.
Per told them:
I had a dream
I met Vasco da Gama, I met Adam Malysz, I have been in an Amber Castle in
Lithuania - and seen and experienced many exiting things.
His family did not believe him.
Then the elf, whose name was Alf, suddenly appeared!
He said - it is true, all of it! And then all the people they had met on their trip appeared!
The elf said that it is important to get to know each other - so that we all can live in peace.
